We are really pleased by the success of the ‘Heart of Swindon’ launch and the subsequent conversations. We have been able to bring in substantial investment on the back of the launch from Homes England and One Public Estate and are having encouraging conversations with landowners.
We are bringing forward improvements to Bridge St and Fleet St at the bottom end of town and will keep on pushing to deliver a town centre that is attractive and appeals to all Swindonians. We want to really transform the town centre, bring back town centre housing and make it a vibrant and attractive space for everyone.
The opening of Fleming Way is already having a positive effect on the town centre and there is a new energy from the businesses we have been working with. The refreshed signage on the Parade uses artwork form the Swindon art collection, advertising Swindon as a place of culture.
Jan Update – We have started knocking down the Bus Station and are working on an Investment Prospectus for the Kimmerfields site. We continue to seek funding for the Entertainments Venue and will be taking this forward as soon as we can!
