In the same way that we have invested in more traffic wardens, we are increasing the number of officers tackling fly-tipping and are also increasing the number of warranted officers who have the powers to investigate and fine fly-tippers to really get to grips with the issue. We want to get ahead of the issue and try to deal with problem areas as quickly as we can so that areas don’t get reputations for hosting fly-tipping. We need to much more effective at fining offenders to really send a message that it won’t be tolerated.
Jan Update – We have quadrupled the number of warranted offers and will double that again in February! We are already dealing with more cases and gathering evidence for issuing fines. We are investing in new equipment for officers to make it quicker and easier to fine people.
