We know how important a responsive and proactive Council is for the town. We know that our website and phone systems are simply not up to scratch, and it is not as easy as it should be to contact the Council. We are determined to make it as easy as possible to report issues and challenges and will be investing in new systems to ensure that residents have a better experience when communicating with the Council. Alongside this, we will be moving to a more proactive system where we try to offer support to residents as early as possible to stop them needing more costly and intensive support by waiting until a chaos point to intervene. The Swindon Conservatives decided to deal with their failed Government’s austerity plans whilst their Wiltshire colleagues doubled down on prevention. Swindon now spends over 85% of our budget on adult and children’s social care, whilst Wiltshire spend around 70%. This failed experiment has cost Swindon residents dearly.
